A little about us
Pelican Market is a farmers market reboot.
Over the years the farmers market has been right on the sidewalk during the summer season. Spurred on by a action planning process called Local Foods, Local Places in fall, of 2020, a community team identified a permanent market space as a top priotiry to support local farms and support business development in Pelican Rapids.
Ryan Pesch of Lida Farm took leadership to create a more permanent location and reorganize the market. Many partners have contributed to the effort:
- The Welcome Place: The market is a project of the Welcome Place.
- Lake Region Electric Cooperative: Archway construction
- City of Pelican Rapids: Lot for market use
- West Central Initiative: Funding to help with marketing and start-up costs
- Lida Farm: Start up funding and organization
- Center for Small Towns: Summer intern Lily Sugimura, our market coordinator
- Our vendors who are willing to give a farmers market reboot a shot.
